From August 17 to 22, 2018, Professor Ruan Shuangchen, Director of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU), led a delegation to Germany and Switzerland for in-depth exchanges and discussions on international cooperation regarding summer/winter camps, international talents and teachers’ recruitment, overseas faculty training, and renting laboratories and practical training bases amongst other matters. Substantial progress has been made in these areas and will greatly facilitate the improvement of SZTU’s competitiveness and influence in the international arena.

During the first four days, the SZTU delegation has visited in a chronological order the Fraunhofer ILT, which is the largest application-oriented research organization in Europe, the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, one of the renowned universities of applied sciences in Germany, the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, the Munich University of Applied Sciences (MUAS), and the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences. During their stay at Germany, in addition to visiting various facilities, carrying out discussions and exchanges on such subjects as student/faculty exchanges, joint curriculum development, and selecting professors for SZTU’s College of Business, the delegation has signed two agreements, namely the World Twin Memorandum of Understanding and the I-Factory Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt.

In the following two days, the delegation has stopped at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA), and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in succession. Not only has the delegation exchanged opinions on how to deepen international cooperation in the future, but internships for both SZTU’s undergraduate and graduate students and mode for joint cultivation have been put under discussion.

Representative from SZTU’s Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, College of Big Data and Internet, and the International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office have also been part of the delegation.
