CAS Academician He Xiantu receives Edward Teller Award

On July 1, 2018, Prof. He Xiantu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was hired as SZTU’s distinguished professor. On September 28, 2018, Prof. He established the He Xiantu Academician Workstation, the first academician workstation at SZTU.

The 11th International Conference on Inertial Fusion Sciences and Applications (IFSA 2019) was held in Osaka, Japan on September 26, 2019. Prof. He Xiantu was awarded the Edward Teller Award by the American Nuclear Society for his outstanding leadership in the development of the Chinese inertial confinement fusion program and his significant contribution to target physics and high energy density physics.

Tips:

Prof. He Xiantu has received many awards, including the State Natural Science Award (First Class), the National Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class and Second Class) and 8 national awards. In 1995, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the highest honor for a scientist in China. Prof. He was a chief scientist of the Topic Expert Group on Inertial Confinement Fusion of the State "863 Project" and a member of the Presidium of CAS Academic Divisions. For his outstanding contributions to research in physics, the asteroid 079286 Hexiantu was named in his honor by the Minor Planet Center of the International Astronomical Union on September 25, 2018.
