Organized by the International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office, eight student groups from Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) were scheduled to take short-term exchange programs abroad this summer. Among them, six students from SZTU arrived in Kempten, Germany on June 16, to attend a two-week summer school on business management at the Kempten University of Applied Sciences. Since establishing partnership with Kempten UAS in 2018, SZTU has sent students to take semester-long exchange programs and campus visit at Kempten UAS. This is the first time for SZTU students to participate in the summer school held by Kempten UAS.

The summer school mainly consists of two courses, namely “Business Management Simulation” and “Case Study”, which integrate business management knowledge and skills into practice through a variety of interactive activities such as role-playing, group discussion, simulated meeting and presentation.

In the “Business Management Simulation” class, Prof. Martin Göbl organized the students into teams to set up and manage five companies, with each team member taking on different business roles. The students were required to use professional knowledge to calculate how to allocate resources, make business plan for the company, compete with the other companies, and present the key performance.

In the “Case Study” class, Prof. Andreas Müller organized simulated business consultation and board meetings to discuss international business cases. The students were divided into two groups: the board of directors and the consultant team, and played the roles of consultants, CEOs and board members. The consultant team was responsible for analyzing the problems of the company in the case and offering suggestions; and the board of directors was responsible for raising questions and discussing the final decision on the company’s solutions.

Throughout the summer school, SZTUers partnered with students from Germany, the UK, Spain and other countries, working hard as a team to finish assignments and achieve common business goals. Such experience enabled SZTUers to actively explore the cross-cultural differences in international business, develop team spirit and English skills, and improve leadership and communication ability in the foreign language environment.

Besides, the students visited Fendt, a German company and the world’s leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment, to learn about its orderly management and assembly line.
