CAS Academician Qian Yitai gives lecture at SZTU

On January 8, Prof. Qian Yitai, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was invited to give a lecture on “Crystal Chemistry of Micro/Nano Materials” at Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU). The lecture was attended by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, Prof. Liu Qingxia, fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and dean of Julong College, as well as the heads, teachers and students of relevant colleges and departments.

Prof. Qian explicated the key role that crystal chemistry plays in the discovery of new materials, including the development, structure and properties of new crystalline materials, as well as the preparation and properties of solid solutions, molecules, graphene and graphite intercalation compounds. Besides such advanced scientific theories and technological achievements, he also shared his experience and reflection on scientific research and exchanged ideas with the teachers and students present.

Tips:

Academician Qian Yitai is also a professor at the University of Science and Technology of China and fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He has been engaged in scientific research and talent training in the field of inorganic superconducting materials, inorganic nanomaterials and energy storage materials for years. Thus far, Prof. Qian has been awarded the second prize of the State Natural Science Award, the first prize of the CAS Natural Science Award, and the Scientific and Technological Advancement Prize presented by Ho Leung Ho Lee (HLHL) Foundation. He has also published more than 900 papers in international journals such as Science, which have been cited over 36,000 times.
