Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) sent a 56-member team, guided by three instructors—Li Meng, Luo Jiezhong, and Zhang Haochuan. Competing with their Hurricane-25 (fuel-powered Baja) and Flash-25 (electric Baja) vehicles, the team achieved their best-ever results, breaking into the national top three for the first time.

The Baja SAE China (BSC), organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers, is a design and manufacturing competition where teams must build a single-seat, mid-powered off-road vehicle within specified standards. The event includes fuel, electric, hydrogen, and intelligent categories, with both static and dynamic events. The competition aims to enhance students’ professional skills and teamwork through practical learning.

SZTU’s two teams delivered exceptional performances, not only securing top overall rankings but also winning multiple individual awards: Flash-25 won the national third place, ranked third in the design report and endurance race, and received the “Outstanding Promotion Team” award. Hurricane-25 ranked fourth nationally and won third place in the endurance race, second place in the hill climb, and second place in the cost report competition (undergraduate category).
Standing on the national podium, SZTU Racing Car Studio has made a remarkable breakthrough. The achievement they have made not only recognizes the hard work of the students and instructors but also marks a new chapter in SZTU’s practical automotive engineering education. The team aims to build on this success and strive for even greater results in next year’s competition.
