To meet the demands of the advanced manufacturing industry and to solve the current problems of material, energy, resources and environment, the College of New Materials and New Energies focuses on establishing a new talent development model for technical talents of applied sciences in the sector of new materials and renewable energies. It is also committed to cultivating highly skilled and highly qualified engineers of undergraduate and postgraduate levels who have solid theoretical foundation, hand-on skills and innovation capability.

The College will be employability-oriented with concentration on engineering know-how and practical innovation through university-industry collaboration, industry-education integration and combination of work placement and university-based study. The College will serve to address the pressing demand of the regional economic and social development and is aspired to become the prestigious center of technical talents of applied sciences and the hub of talent development system of undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The College develops activity groups that organize extracurricular activities to motivate students and to spark their creativity. It also looks to develop itself into a hub for transition between vocational and higher education, a launching pad for innovation through industrial and international collaborations in the sector of new materials and new energies, and a center of excellence offering new materials and new energies education of applied sciences in China and abroad.


The College currently offers bachelor’s degrees in Light Source and Illumination, New Energy Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Microelectronics Science and Engineering, and Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated System, as well as master’s degree in Optical Engineering.
