Founded in 2020, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) is composed of four divisions, namely the Department of English, the Department of German, the Foreign Language Teaching Center, and the Writing Center. At present, SFL offers three undergraduate programs: Business English, German and English. Through nurturing versatile talents who “not only master multiple skills but also specialize in a specific one”, SFL is committed to cultivating foreign language professionals with a global view, humanistic sentiments, and the spirit of innovation and diligence. The School adopts an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teaching mode, aiming to equip the students with interdisciplinary knowledge and perceptions, and with the potentials of conducting interdisciplinary research and innovative thinking with a solid foundation of foreign language knowledge.

  

The main research fields of the faculty members include English Linguistics, English Literature, German Language Pedagogy, German Literature, German Culture, Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Cross-cultural Studies, etc. Based on the existing programs of Business English and German, SFL will gradually set up undergraduate programs of English, Translation Studies, English-German Bilingual, Japanese, and more within the next five years. Meanwhile, SFL will carry out studies in the fields of Business English, Applied Linguistics, British and American Literature Studies, Translation Studies, Cross-cultural Studies, Country-specific Studies and so on, in accordance with its faculty members’ academic background and research groundings. Moreover, the School plans to build Sino-foreign cooperative education programs and postgraduate-level programs for Business English, British and American Literature Studies, Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, and more, so as to promote in-depth and holistic disciplinary development and academic research.
