Facing the frontiers of science, meeting the demand of national key project strategy and regional economic development, combining modern physics foundation with advanced engineering techniques, and optimizing inter-disciplines, the College of Engineering Physics (EP) strives to become a cradle of creative and inter-disciplinary talents. The College aims to develop internationally advanced and leading innovative techniques to serve the demands from the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area and promote national industrial upgrading, and also cultivate excellent undergraduate and graduate students with an international perspective and innovative thinking.
Currently, the College offers two undergraduate programs: Applied Physics and Opto-electronic Information Science & Engineering, and consists of a number of advanced facilities and centers, including the Shenzhen Key Laboratory for Ultra-Strong Laser and Advanced Material Technology, the Center for Advanced Material Diagnostic Technology, academician workstation, College Physics Education and Laboratory Center, etc. The faculty consists of experts from applied physics, optics engineering, laser-plasma physics, material physics, computing science, etc.
At the moment, there are several research laboratories under construction, including an ultra-strong and ultrafast laser development lab, an optical precision instruments lab, an advanced material fabrication and exploration lab, an extremely high-pressure material physics lab, an energetic particles accelerator lab, an atomic-molecular physics lab, an acoustic application lab, an electromagnetic application lab, a quantum engineering lab, an intelligent optical lab, etc.
