Prof. Ding Yongjian was Appointed Guest Professor by SZTU

On January 4th, Prof. Ding Yongjian, Vice President of the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences visited Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and wasappointedGuest Professor of SZTU. Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, President of SZTU, Ms. Sun Xiangyu, Vice President of SZTU, Prof. Han Peigang, Dean of College of New Materials and New Energies, Prof. Hu Junqing, Dean of College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering, Prof. Liu Shengyuan, Dean of College of Creative Design and Prof. Jiang Lianbo, Associate Dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics attended the meeting. They conducted in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, university-enterprise cooperation and introduction of resources in higher education system between China and Germany, and reached consensus on further cooperation between two universities.

Prof. Ruan extended a warm welcome to Prof. Ding and made a detailed introduction about the preparation and development of SZTU. He pointed out that since its establishment, SZTU has been learning the experience of the first-class universities of applied sciences in Germany and attaching importance to international cooperation and university-enterprise cooperation, including a close cooperation on joint establishment of practice and training base, student exchange and teacher training with universities of applied sciences in Germany, Switzerland and Netherlands. He also looked forward to concrete cooperation between SZTU and the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, which may enable SZTU students to study at the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences or enhance faculty exchange between two universities.

Prof. Ding elaborated on the general development of German higher education, the differences of higher education between China and Germany, and the basic information of discipline construction, achievements in scientific research, education modes and teaching in the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. He spoke highly of the consortium between SZTU and Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences as an innovative approach to effective all-round cooperation. In his speech, he welcomed SZTU to visit the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, and looked forward to a new type of cooperation.

Founded in 1991, the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences approximately has 50 majors, 150 professors and 6,200 students. In 2000, the Magdeburg Campus and the Stendal Campus were merged into the Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. It is strong in different majors, including Architecture, Mechanical Manufacturing (Industrial Automation and Design), Business Management, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, Health Care Education and Rehabilitation, Environmental Protection, International Technical Communication and Translation, Electronic Technology, Health science, Bioengineering, Water Management and so on.
