On the evening of September 7, the 2018 Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) Inauguration Ceremony & Welcome Show commenced at the sports field of SZTU’s launching campus. All the freshmen, university faculties and some of the students’ parents took part in the event. Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, Director of SZTU, three SZTU’s Deputy Directors, that is Prof. Xu Gang, Ms. Sun Xiangyu and Prof. Zhang Yanhong, and six deans of SZTU were also present alongside with 15 representatives from 10 cooperative enterprises.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Prof. Zhang Yanhong briefed the audience about the 2018 undergraduate enrollment, which was followed by a speech of the student representative, Xie Senhao, from the College of Big Data and Internet. Prof. Wang Hongzhi, Associate Dean of Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, on behalf of the SZTU faculty, congratulated the 2018 freshmen on their excellent performances in the national college entrance examination and expressed his ardent expectations for their future college life in his following remark.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, Director of SZTU, in his address to the audience, stressed the spirit of SZTU, which signified rigorous scientific spirit, openness, inclusiveness, the quality of being down-to-earth and progressiveness, and that all the students should combine the spirit of patriotism with scientism for their study.

Mr. Yu Hongxing, Deputy Supervisor of Huawei’s Manufacturing Department, and Prof. Franz Raps, Dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, also addressed  the opening ceremony.

At 8:00 pm, the 2018 Welcome Show of SZTU started. A lion dance by the Tiantou Community of the Shijing Sub-district of Pingshan District ignited the stage. SZTU’s Keep Funky Club’s hot dances, the music association’s serial sing of songs, a folk dance performance presented by SZTU teachers and performances by Shenzhen University alumnus amongst many other brilliant shows provided the SZTU faculty and students with an enchanting and pleasant experience. Both the inauguration ceremony and the welcome show were filled with complete success.
