15 students and 3 professors from Gyeongsang National University (GNU) visited Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and took part in the Cantonese culture-themed Winter School from December 19 to 26. The delegation from GNU led by Kim Duk-hwan, deputy dean of College of Humanities, studied Cantonese courses, learned about Lingnan culture, and visited Civic Center, Dapeng Acient City, Tencent and so on. The Winter School was organized by International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office.

On December 26, Prof. Ruan Shuanchen, president of SZTU, and Zeng Siyu, head of International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office, attended the closing ceremony of Winter School. Prof. Ruan issued certificates to the Korean students and addressed the closing ceremony. An academic exchange agreement between GNU and SZTU was signed in November 2019. He hopes that more Korean students will participate in various cultural exchange activities held by SZTU.

At the closing ceremony, Yu Yeonkyoung and Kwon Jaegyu shared their experiences and happiness as student representatives. 15 Korean students sang a Cantonese song to express their deep appreciation for the valuable opportunities provided by SZTU. Currently, only two universities in South Korea have officially launched Cantonese courses, and GNU is one of them.

During the Winter School, SZTU carefully arranged courses on Cantonese pronunciation and Lingnan culture for GNU students. Lingnan culture refers to the culture of Guangdong and the nearby provinces in southeastern China. In addition, Prof. Franz Raps, dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, introduced current international exchange between SZTU and German universities of applied sciences to the Korean students.

In their spare time, GNU students visited the Sino-German Laboratory of Beer Brewing Process Control, had perfect experience in playing Robomaster S1 robot from DJI and was highly impressed by the drone display from SZTU UAV Club.

SZTU also provided abundant cultural activities for GNU students and teachers. They paid a visit to Dapeng Ancient City, one of the most important historical relics in Guangdong, enjoyed the Lighting Show on the top of Lianhuashan Park, watched the exhibition on 40-year Reform and Opening-Up in Guangdong and witnessed the achievements of modern high-tech development in Tencent.
