On the afternoon of April 2, a Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) delegation led by Prof. Zhang Jihong, secretary of the party committee of SZTU and Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU went to the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, making reports to Jing Lihu, director of Department of Education of Guangdong Province in terms of school-running philosophy, campus construction, faculty construction, postgraduate education, undergraduate training, Party building, epidemic prevention, etc. Zhu Jianhua, director of the General Office, Xie Chunyan, director of Development and Planning Division, Deng Ronghai, deputy director of Division of Higher Education, and Jin Tianlai, deputy director of Graduate Education Department joined the meeting.

Director Jing Lihu fully acknowledged the achievements currently made by SZTU. He spoke highly of SZTU’s smooth progress with clear working philosophy at the initial stage. He noted that the Department of Education of Guangdong Province will fully support SZTU to be soon granted permission to offer master’s and doctoral programs relying on Shenzhen University as an incubator. It is hoped that an incubation plan can be formed as soon as possible and be fully implemented in accordance with certain procedures. In addition, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province will allocate reasonable enrollment quota to SZTU according to the current joint cultivating mode of graduate students with Shenzhen University.

Director Jing Lihu hopes SZTU will make steady progress in the following aspects:

1. Follow the standards of first-class universities of applied sciences in terms of hardware facilities.

2. Improve the working mechanism in an all-round way and build a professional team with talents specializing in applied science and technology.

3. Build SZTU into a university of applied sciences with Chinese characteristics learning from experience around the world.

4. Strive for permission to offer master’s and doctoral programs by taking advantage of favorable national and local policies.

5. Strengthen ideological and political education for students.
