SZTU's first pop brand IP Takusaki officially unveiled

The first pop cultural brand IP of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) Takusaki was officially unveiled at the Public Teaching Building on June 30. The event was joined by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, heads of related departments, some staff members and students as well as friends from media and enterprises.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen noted that the Takusaki project was completed independently by students with the guidance of the teacher. SZTU has been encouraging students to apply what they have learned and start businesses, which will have a positive impact on students in business startups and innovation. The project embodies the concept of valuing time and efficiency, being innovative and rising to the challenge. It is hoped that Takusaki, as a cultural symbol representing SZTU, can promote its image on campus, in Shenzhen and even in other parts of the country to help the university gain in popularity.

Later Associate Prof. Hu Jingxuan from College of Creative Design, head of International Contemporary Art Research Center of SZTU and the instructor of the project introduced the story of Takusaki. She pointed out that schools in some developed countries attach great importance to campus culture while Chinese universities pay little attention to or even neglect it. Takusaki was born under such background, injecting vitality into the campus IP culture in China.

Student representative Huang Yuqi from the project team shared her journey from the very beginning to the launching ceremony. She said that as a cultural and creative brand of SZTU, Takusaki will definitely attract great attention. The team members will blaze a trail and bear the spirit of craftsmanship in mind.

Profile of Takusaki

Name

Takusaki is derived from the clock sounds of Tik Tak and Tik Tok and the Japanese word usaki (bunny). Its Chinese name shí zhōng (clock) (bunny) also coincides with the abbreviation of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU).


Description

Takusaki’s forehead bears the emblem of SZTU, representing its birthplace. The pattern of electrical circuit on the cloak embodies the spirit of “ingenious dreamers” and the characteristics of university of applied sciences. The clock time on the clothes is set at 18:11:30, a reference to the founding date of SZTU - November 30, 2018.

Takusaki, drawing inspiration from time, has 4 series of products - mechanical clock, human body clock, life clock and natural/social clock.


Ideas

Takusaki is an original campus brand, echoing the slogan of SZTU - “Ingenious dreamers, humane sentiments”.


“Time is Money, Efficiency is Life.” The slogan at Shenzhen Shekou Port is very famous and influential in China during the reform and opening up over the past 40 years, witnessing the fast development of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. SZTU, as the youngest and one of the fastest developing universities in Shenzhen, encourages students to value time and efficiency. Against such a backdrop, Takusaki was created, combining the project with students’ study.

Taking inspiration from art, hip-hop, street culture, anime, etc., the team wishes to make Takusaki a pop cultural brand IP that is stylish and eclectic and develop more quality brand products.


Project team members

The team was composed of 15 freshmen and sophomores from College of Creative Design, College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing, Business School and College of Big Data and Internet, instructed by Associate Prof. Hu Jingxuan.
