Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) held the 2020 Inauguration Ceremony on September 27. The ceremony was joined by Prof. Zhang Jihong, secretary of the Party committee of SZTU, Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, Prof. Zhang Yanhong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of Committee for Discipline Inspection, Prof. Xu Gang, vice president of SZTU, dean of each college, department heads, teacher representatives, business leaders and most importantly, all the new students. It was hosted by junior undergraduate student Zeng Lingfei and undergraduate freshman Su Shengliang.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen warmly welcomed 1,579 undergraduates, 103 graduate students and 4 doctoral students joining the SZTU community. He hoped that SZTU students can be men and women of both great moral integrity and creativity. “Never be proud in good times and be discouraged in bad times.” is his sincere advice for all new students.

Prof. Holger Haldenwang, dean of Business School, delivered a speech representing the faculty. As the former vice president of Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (OTH Regensburg), he has a deep understanding of how the German universities of applied sciences work based on his 35-year experience at OTH Regensburg. He pointed out that SZTU provides a lot of international exchange programs and internships, which will help students get prepared to be the next generation of business leaders. He also hoped that students can rise to the challenges, master professional knowledge, acquire language proficiency and improve the comprehensive ability.

Representing the new postgraduate students, Huang Yongzhi, majoring in Computer Science and Technology, said that students should learn high technologies from other countries and apply them to future research. He wished to work hard with his peers and grow together with SZTU.

Li Xuanhao, majoring in Biomedical Engineering at College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering, spoke on behalf of the new undergraduate students. He compared the freshmen to “the young eagles about to spread their wings and fly high”. Students should seize the opportunity to pursue their dreams starting from SZTU!
