The 8th Shenzhen International Industrial Design Fair (SZIDF) was held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from November 2 to 4. With the theme of “SURVIVAL BY DESIGN: from Darwinism to_”, SZIDF explores the unique value of design in the current era from a new perspective. Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU), the only university attending SZIDF, attracted a great deal of attention with more than 80 products including jewelry design, packaging design, and industrial products.

SZTU’s exhibits fall into two main categories: technology and culture. All of them are either designed by teachers from College of Creative Design, collaboratively designed by teachers and students, or developed with enterprises.

On November 3, Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, and Prof. Liu Shengyuan, dean of College of Creative Design, came to the booth and learned about the exhibits. They appreciated the works and encouraged the young designers to make greater progress.
During the exhibition, provincial and municipal leaders and industry experts visited SZTU’s booth, placing high hopes on the future development of SZTU and its College of Creative Design. The university philosophy of training application-oriented students was spoken highly of by the guests.

As the only university exhibitor, College of Creative Design of SZTU attracted many media reports and interviews. On the opening day of the fair, Li Liquan, a young teacher from College of Creative Design was interviewed by Shenzhen Satellite TV. He introduced the training philosophy and characteristics of SZTU, as well as its goal of cultivating high-quality application-oriented graduates such as high-level engineers and designers with international vision, craftsmanship, innovation abilities and entrepreneurship capabilities.

SZTU’s booth also attracted visitors from other universities including Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Sun Yat-sen University.
SZIDF not only provides a window for teachers and students of SZTU to demonstrate their innovative design, but also expands new channels for the university to carry out university-enterprise cooperation. During the fair, dozens of companies came to the booth and expressed their intent to cooperate with SZTU, including student internship, cooperative research and development, and joint laboratories.
