CityU Macau delegation visits SZTU

On November 13, a delegation from City University of Macau (CityU Macau), including Acting Rector Kong Fanqing and Associate Vice Rector Su Jinxiong, visited Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU). SZTU President Ruan Shuangchen and heads of related departments and colleges had a meeting with the delegation. SZTU and CityU Macau signed a cooperation agreement on future collaboration in academic communication, teacher and student exchanges, and industrial transformation at the opening ceremony of Forum on Innovative Design for Young Scholars on October 24. This visit marked further discussion between the two parties on issues such as discipline construction, talent cultivation and international cooperation.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, stated that SZTU aims to cultivate high-level talents of applied sciences with international view and craftsman’s spirit that will contribute to the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Currently, the university is taking the 40th anniversary of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone as a new starting point for quality growth and is committed to keeping up with the demands of Shenzhen’s industrial structure and development, showcasing the features of universities of applied sciences, introducing high-end talents, and strengthening its discipline construction and internationalization.

He also stressed that SZTU attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with universities in Hong Kong and Macau and highly recognizes the development philosophy of CityU Macau. It is expected that the two parties will deepen mutual understanding and trust based on signed MOU, and build a platform for exchanges and cooperation to achieve common progress.

Prof. Kong Fanqing, acting rector of CityU Macau, said that the university is a member of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, with about 6,000 students and a variety of featured specialties, including humanities, art, business, finance, emerging engineering and social sciences. Prof. Kong also praised the construction progress of SZTU, stating that its commitment and strategy of becoming a benchmark for international universities of applied sciences is an exemplary attempt for the reform and development of higher education. The purpose of their visit is to discover specific cooperation opportunities between the two parties following the signed agreement. She expected that both universities will strengthen communication under the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and cooperate in discipline development, academic exchanges, joint training, laboratory construction, student exchanges and cooperatively-run educational projects, so as to jointly contribute to the development of regional higher education.
