The 2021 Blockchain Cryptography Conference (CryptoBC 2021) of Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research (CACR) was held at Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) from April 17 to 18. Over 200 experts and scholars from universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises across the country gathered together to focus on the latest research and application on blockchain cryptography.

The opening ceremony was joined by An Xiaolong, vice chairman and secretary-general of CACR; Li Xiaofeng, former deputy director-general of Technology Department of the People’s Bank of China; Luo Hong, deputy director-general of Shenzhen Cryptography Administration; Tian Minqiu, deputy director of State Cryptography Administration (SCA); Zheng Dingxiang, president of Shenzhen Information Service Blockchain Association (SZBA); Su Nianle, chairman of Dinglian Digital Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd.; Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU; Prof. Xiang Shaohua, dean of College of Big Data and Internet and chairman of the Executive Committee; and Prof. Li Dawei from SZTU, chairman of the Conference.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen addressed the conference. He said that SZTU attaches great importance to the development of blockchain technology. Holding CryptoBC 2021 at SZTU is an affirmation of its comprehensive strength and will promote blockchain-related research at SZTU and help the industry thrive.

Prof. Li Dawei introduced the progress and work plans of the CACR Blockchain Expert Committee as its chairman. He pointed out that the committee serves as a platform for professionals in the fields of cryptography and engineering from home and abroad.

An Xiaolong announced the establishment of the CACR Blockchain Expert Committee and introduced the progress and work plans of CACR. He said that CACR will further promote the development of cryptography in China by actively promoting the basic research on cryptography, developing and internationalizing commercial standards, applying research findings to industrial production, popularizing cryptography, etc.

Luo Hong pointed out that cryptography is the core technology of blockchain security, and consensus algorithms and privacy protection are the core technologies of blockchain. The Blockchain Expert Committee should promote the development and cooperation among industries, universities and research institutes, following the trend in the field of cryptographic research.

Experts and professors from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nankai University, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University and other universities and scientific research institutes, as well as representatives of well-known enterprises were invited to give reports on the application and development trends of such technologies as the privacy protection based on blockchain, the application of domestic cryptography in the autonomous consortium blockchains, the multi-recipient public key encryption scheme, the cross-regional sharing of government data, regulated anonymous digital currency, blockchain-based secure multi-party computation, and aggregate signature protocol.

Li Xiaofeng made a report on “Apply Blockchain Technology to Financial Industry”. Tian Minqiu made a report on “Thoroughly Implement the Cryptography Law to Promote the Integrated and Innovative Development of Blockchain Cryptography”.

CACR will continue to be a community for scientists and researchers in the field of blockchain cryptography and promote academic exchanges and cooperation among enterprises, universities and research institutes.
