This year, more than 200 SZTU students signed up for the school-level selection test for the tournament, and 40 of them stood out and formed four teams. The participants need to solve programming questions of three difficulty levels, which requires them to have solid programming skills and algorithm application abilities. Under instructions from teachers Cai Tianxing, Li Jingyu and Chen Fan, SZTU teams from College of Big Data and Internet won one national team second prize (Chen Jincong, Liu Zechi, Lyu Xuanrui, Ou Weikai, Pang Shiyu, Shi Zhilin, Wu Taiwei, Wu Yuheng, Xing Yunlong and Ye Zihao), two national team third prizes, one national individual second prize (Liu Zechi), three national individual third prizes and one provincial university third prize.

College of Big Data and Internet pays great attention to practical teaching, the courses offered by which such as Programming, Data Structure and Algorithm Design & Analysis allow students to practice for more than 50% of the class hours. When they were preparing for the tournament, the students found that data structure and algorithm not only are theories in textbooks, but also can solve practical problems.
Group Programming Ladder Tournament (GPLT), part of the China Collegiate Computing Contest, is a high-level programming competition for college students, jointly sponsored by three teaching steering committees of the Ministry of Education in the computer field and the Computer Education Research Association of Chinese Universities. GPLT aims to improve students’ abilities in programming, data structure and algorithm application, as well as enhance their teamwork and comprehensive quality. This year, it attracted more than 1,400 teams and over 10,000 students from more than 430 universities across the country, including Peking University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and so on.
