Prof. Holger Haldenwang encouraged graduates to find the job they love and wished them all the best for their future life both privately and professionally, with much success, health and necessary luck. Prof. Ruan Shuangchen reflected on what the graduates had been through over the past four years — thriving together with SZTU. Commencement is a beginning, not an ending. With around 800 students embarking on a new journey in times of uncertainty, Prof. Ruan gave some advice to the graduates. He encouraged graduates to blaze a rail and forge ahead, with social responsibilities, adequate preparation and great passion. He also urged the students to rule their own lives with three bottom lines: value health, control desire for consumption and keep promises.

After the commencement speech, the degree-granting ceremony commenced. Prof. Ruan personally handed each graduate their diploma. It is noteworthy that SZTU presented students’ graduation headshots compared with the ones when they just got enrolled. Overcome by deep emotion, graduates looked back on their time at SZTU.

Due to epidemic prevention and control measures, the ceremony was also broadcasted live online, which attracted over 1.5 million views and allowed families, friends and the loved ones of the graduates to witness the memorable event. This is also the first time that SZTU held its commencement ceremony at the newly-built magnificent stadium. Another highlight worth mentioning is that the academic dress is designed by a student team and Xu Fan, a lecturer from the College of Design and Innovation.
