SZTU signs MoU with DIT

On June 7, 2022, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) officially established the cooperation partnership with Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT). The two universities will work together to promote exchanges and cooperation. Representing the both sides, Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, and Prof. Peter Sperber, president of DIT, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

At the ceremony, Prof. Ruan introduced SZTU on its location, campus construction, colleges and schools, specialty setting, university-enterprise cooperation and international cooperation. The collaboration between SZTU and DIT will arrive at a win-win situation by sharing reciprocal advantages and resources. President Ruan believed that the partnership with DIT would be beneficial for both sides. He hoped that the two universities can work together to explore new models in many aspects, especially in academic research and student exchanges.

On the other hand, President Peter Sperber gave a short presentation on DIT. Deggendorf Institute of Technology, founded in 1994, has become one of the most successful university of applied sciences in Bavaria, Germany. It currently has 8,000 students, 170 professors and 10 honorary professors. More than 30% of students come from over 100 countries and regions worldwide. DIT has three campuses in Deggendorf, Pfalkising and Kam and eight faculties, that is Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Technology, Faculty of Applied Economics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Media Technology, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences and Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Applied Healthcare Sciences, Faculty of Computer Science, and Faculty of The European Campus Rottal-Inn. He pointed out that a university of applied sciences is a practical education model that would help to bring vitality into the industrial sector. In particular, he was impressed by the rapid development of SZTU and believed that as a pioneer in this educational model, it would play a significant role in boosting the regional development.

As the liaison person of this collaboration, Prof. Holger Haldenwang, dean of Business School, paid a visit to DIT in January 2022 on behalf of SZTU. He noted that though international cooperation during the Covid pandemic was challenging, he held a firm belief that the online platform would be a good alternative to deliver the same goal. Prof. Franz Raps, dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, hoped that the two universities would promote the exchanges of teachers and students. Not only did he wish to see teachers and students from SZTU go abroad, but he also welcomed international students to SZTU. Ms. Zeng Siyu, director of International Cooperation and Student Affairs Office, hosted the signing ceremony. She said that SZTU has embraced the new mode of international exchanges and cooperation since the outbreak of Covid pandemic. She hoped the online platform would provide more opportunities for international teachers and students to work together.

Both sides reached a consensus that it is necessary to promote cross-nation exchanges in this increasingly connected world. After signing the MoU, the representatives from both sides raised a toast and wished for a victorious cooperation ahead. Ms. Birgit Augustin, chancellor of DIT, and Mr. Ivian Kuscheff, head of International Office of DIT also attended the ceremony and wished for big success for the newly established partnership between SZTU and DIT.
