SZTU wins 12 prizes of EPDA 2022

Recently, led by Prof. Huo Yuda, dean of College of Design and Innovation, and Associate Prof. Chen Yongjun, a team of teachers and students from Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) won 12 prizes of the 2022 European Product Design Award (EPDA), including 9 “Winner” prizes, and it makes SZTU the university that has won the most “Winner in Packaging Design” prizes of EPDA.

Earth Eggs [Photo/College of Design and Innovation]

 

Design Concepts: The one-paper-forming green design without printing and glue can greatly avoid waste and pollution, thus achieving convenient, low-cost, efficient and environmentally friendly packaging.

 

   

Metal Straw + Chopsticks [Photo/College of Design and Innovation]

 

Design Concept: The combination of metal straws and short bamboo chopsticks can not only avoid the use of disposable straws, but also reduce the use of wood by 60% -75%, thus greatly abating environmental pollution.


   

Humanitarian Aid Packaging [Photo/College of Design and Innovation]

 

Design concept: This is a corrugated cardboard box embedded with an educational toy designed for children in less-developed regions and refugee children. When the humanitarian organization delivers the aid to the target area, the children there can cut out the chess pieces with adult guidance as a way of practicing their hands-on skills.

 

   

Wild tea [Photo/College of Design and Innovation]

 

Design Concept: Without printing, the tea packaging is made of leaves. The unique texture of the natural leaves combined with bold calligraphy gives a sense of wildness and freedom. Its production can realize the recycling of waste, promote the sustainable development of environment, and provide jobs for low-income groups.

 

   

Humanitarian Pill Packaging [Photo/College of Design and Innovation]

 

Design Concept: By printing the numbers from 1 to 7 of the week in the corresponding hole of the tablet package and the corresponding date of taking the medicine, the product can avoid the problem of forgetting to take medicine or taking an overdose. Keeping it stand can better remind patients of taking pills on time.

 

“Humanitarian Pill Packaging” project has won 7 prestigious design awards at home and abroad, including EPDA 2022, WorldStar Student Awards 2021, Asia Star 2021, A’Design Award 2021-2022, Bauhaus Design Award, China Competition of Creative Packaging Design 2021, and Creativity Award of Packstar 2021.

As one of the most comprehensive product design competitions, the European Product Design Award was created to recognize the efforts of talented international product designers and design teams who aim to improve people’s daily life with their elaborate creations.
