On October 11, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) jointly launched an international online lecture series themed “Engineering and Entrepreneurship”, which is also the second part of the international public course “Sustainability and Innovation in Connected World” offered by the two universities since 2021. The lecture series is to be open to the students of both universities for two months.

Co-organized by the International Cooperation and Student Affairs Office and the Department of Academic Affairs of SZTU, the lecture series consists of nine interdisciplinary lectures given by nine Chinese and German entrepreneurs, experts and professors, covering different topics such as smart wearables, entrepreneurship, business management, etc. Over 200 Chinese and German students have signed up for this lecture series and been divided into different groups to complete projects.

Despite COVID-19, SZTU has never ceased to explore international cooperation and exchanges as well as expanding online channels to offer international courses. Prof. Ruan Shuangchen said that the two universities have built friendship since 2019 and kept carrying out international exchanges between both students and teachers for three years. Based on SZTU’s international education philosophy and previous cooperation experience, the international lecture series is expected to provide students with cross-cultural exchange opportunities and knowledge about engineering technology and business innovation.

Besides, the lecture series also opens a window for German students to learn about Chinese culture and interact with Chinese students. Prof. Jürgen Bode said that the two universities have kept a strong partnership and close communication in order to offer international courses and exchange opportunities to both Chinese and German students. Through this lecture series, they will have a thorough knowledge of engineering and industries in Germany, Shenzhen speed and entrepreneurship spirit.

Prof. Franz Raps is the liaison and facilitator for launching this lecture series. He hoped the Chinese and German students can take this opportunity to learn and exchange with each other.

Ms. Zeng Siyu said that the lecture series is one of the fruits of the international cooperation and exchange efforts made by the office, and she hoped the students will develop their global vision and professional thinking and gain cultural exchange experience through the lectures.
