On December 22, 2023, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. signed a university-enterprise cooperation agreement at Future Technology School. The two sides held an unveiling ceremony for the Kunpeng & Ascend Industry-Academia Integration Base and launched the first “Kunpeng Elite Class” in Guangdong. Both parties will give full play to their respective advantages and collaborate on teacher training, innovative courses, talent development, smart campuses and other initiative. The event was joined by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU; Prof. Liang Yongsheng, vice president of SZTU; Xiao Haijun, president of the Global Partner Development and Sales Department at Huawei Enterprise Business Group; and Sheng Kai, general manager of the Government and Enterprise Business Department at Huawei Shenzhen.

SZTU and Huawei jointly established the Future Technology School in December 2021. The Kunpeng Elite Class aims to train talented individuals in the domestic computing industry for the long term. The two parties will jointly build a high-end platform for scientific research and development. They will also establish the Kunpeng & Ascend training lab, introducing full-stack Kunpeng and Ascend technologies and product solution capabilities. Five to ten university teachers will receive training, and 100 to 200 Kunpeng and Ascend developers will be equipped with skills.

The class will mainly select 40 students each time majoring in Internet of Things Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, etc. Students will be given priority for job opportunities at Kunpeng ecological practice projects and internships.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen hoped that the two sides can cultivate outstanding engineering talents through university-enterprise cooperation and project-based teaching, solving real-world problems with innovative technologies.

Xiao Haijun also emphasized the need for SZTU and Huawei to actively pursue independent innovation and collaborate in personnel training in the field of information technology and its application in the innovation industry.

SZTU also signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Trony Group recently. Shenzhen Baoyilong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a branch of the company, has officially become SZTU’s strategic cooperation partner. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU; heads of Scientific Research and University-Enterprise Cooperation Office and Quality and Standards Academy of SZTU; Li Yi, president of Trony Group; Feng Xiaojing, investment director of Trony Group; and Li Jiarui, director of Brand Strategy Department of Trony Group and general manager of Shenzhen Baoyilong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.

Prof. Ruan Shuangchen introduced SZTU’s development process, running philosophy and student enrollment at the signing ceremony. He said that SZTU will strengthen cooperation with the industry and contribute to solving challenging issues in the material field. SZTU will also enhance standardized education and train the necessary applied talents.

Li Yi, president of Trony Group, participated in the preparation work for founding SZTU and developed a deep friendship with the university. Li Yi presented the development process of Trony Group and its latest thin-film solar cell technology. He emphasized the importance of standardization in technology and expressed hope for cooperation between the two parties.
Founded in 1993, Trony Group has nearly three decades of industry expertise and is a well-known domestic manufacturer of thin-film solar cells and a world-leading supplier of photovoltaic energy solutions. It boasts over 400 photovoltaic technology patents and possesses core technology for manufacturing and researching the second generation of thin-film solar cells. Established in 2015, Shenzhen Baoyilong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. specializes in photodynamic energy processors and low-carbon distributed smart energy management. The processors can be widely used in smart hardware products for the Internet of Things.
