In this fall semester, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) enrolls over 4,600 new students into 38 majors and programs with steadily increasing enrolment scores, including 3,821 undergraduates and 409 postgraduate students from 23 provinces in China. In addition, 19 international students from Germany, Russia and Singapore are admitted to SZTU this semester.

On August 31, the new students arrived at SZTU for registration. The related faculty and staff members as well as student volunteers well prepared for their arrival, providing a full range of services and assistance.

After registration, the new students moved to the student apartment complex, which is equipped with a comfortable living environment and convenient facilities, including laundry room, gym, grocery store, cafeterias, etc.

On September 3, SZTU held International Student Orientation for the 19 foreign newcomers, including exchange students, visiting students and full-time degree students, who are admitted to the Business School, the School of Foreign Languages, and the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics respectively.

Prof. Ming stated that their arrival has added new vitality to the campus and made SZTU a more international and inclusive family. He hoped that the international students could keep open-minded and practice-oriented, actively attend campus activities, unite and cooperate with classmates, and share different ideas, cultures, and experiences with others on campus.

Three deans expressed their expectations on international students. Prof. Holger Haldenwang, honorary dean of the Business School, hoped the international students could set great life goals, and experience the campus culture and corporate culture in China. Prof. Franz Raps, dean of the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, expected the students to make good friends, gain more knowledge, combine theories with practice, and find future development paths. Prof. Zhong Ling, dean of the School of Foreign Languages, said that more international faces will be seen at SZTU in the future and hoped they could take an active part in campus activities.

Melikyan Milena, a full-time undergraduate degree student from Russia enrolled into the Business School, said that she chose SZTU because it is an emerging university with rapid growth, nice facilities, friendly people and positive teacher-student relationship.
Maximilian Gehring, an international student from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, will start his five-month exchange program at the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics. He said that completing a hands-on project embedded in the course is his main objective and SZTU provides a nice environment and good opportunity for him to put innovative ideas into practice, learn Chinese culture and develop languages skills.

To help the international students adapt to the new environment quickly, the International Cooperation & Student Affairs Office held a lecture during the orientation, introducing the campus culture and life, psychological consultation and career services, safety and emergency response tips, and Chinese laws and regulations.
