On April 16, a delegation of three instructors and 24 students from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) paid a visit to Pingshan, Shenzhen. Since 2023, FHNW has once again partnered with Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) to launch “Insight China” program, which marked a significant step in fostering international academic and cultural exchanges between the two universities.
The FHNW delegation, led by Michael Jeive, Evelyn Kopec, and Irene Büller, first arrived at the campus of SZTU. 24 international students from five different countries had the opportunity to explore various cutting-edge colleges at SZTU. Their itinerary included visits to Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Applied Technologies of Super-Diamond and Functional Crystals, the Digital Fabrication Laboratory, Digital Molding Lab, Plastocene Model Lab, SZTU Library, Racing Car Studio, and SF Smart Logistics Practice Base.

Faculty and student representatives from the College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, College of New Materials and New Energies, School of Design and Innovation, and SZTU Library warmly welcomed the European visitors. They provided detailed introductions to SZTU’s distinctive educational approach and the rich campus culture. The visitors were particularly impressed by SZTU’s innovative practices in intelligent transportation, super diamond technology, and digital fabrication. The unique architectural style and modern interior layout of the university library also left a lasting impression on the FHNW delegation.
Some teachers from SZTU’s International Cooperation and Exchanges Department, College of Big Data and Internet, School of Design and Innovation, and School of Foreign Languages engaged in friendly and in-depth discussions with the FHNW delegation during the lunch break at Lakeview Canteen.

In the afternoon, the FHNW delegation visited EDAN with faculty and student representatives from SZTU. Located in Pingshan District, EDAN is a healthcare company dedicated to improving the human condition around the world by delivering value-driven, innovative and high-quality medical products.
During their visit to EDAN, the delegation gained valuable insights into its innovative achievements in the fields of diagnostic ECG, patient monitoring, ultrasound imaging, intelligent healthcare, point of care testing, and obstetrics and gynecology.
To promote international exchanges and mutual understanding among the young generation, China has established the “Young Envoys Scholarship” (YES) program. SZTU has been actively implementing the YES program, continuously inviting European faculty and students to visit the campus. Through a series of activities such as campus tours, Chinese cultural experiences, and visits to well-known enterprises in Shenzhen, SZTU aims to strengthen international cooperation and cultural exchange with its partner universities.
This visit by the FHNW delegation is a prime example of SZTU’s commitment to fostering a global perspective and enhancing international cooperation. It not only provided a valuable learning experience for both parties but also laid a solid foundation for future collaborative projects and academic exchanges.
