American youth attend study program at SZTU

From June 30 to July 11, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) hosted the “Meet in Shenzhen, Bridge to the Future” Sino-U.S. Youth Study Program. A total of 13 American students and one instructor from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of California, Riverside (UC Riverside), the University of Chicago, as well as U.S. middle and high schools, participated in the 12-day program.

Prof. Ming Zhong, vice president of SZTU, stated that as an internationalized university rooted in Shenzhen and open to the world, SZTU has been actively carrying out exchanges with many European and American universities for mutual learning with an open and inclusive educational concept. He hoped that the visiting students could grasp this opportunity to learn about China’s economic development and the features of Shenzhen, thereby enhancing their understanding of Chinese society and culture. “We hope every visiting student will be an open explorer, an international envoy, and a friendship builder, telling true and colorful stories about China to the world.”

The program features diverse content, including courses on Chinese culture, technology-focused lectures, and hands-on experiences designed by SZTU. The participants immersed themselves in China’s educational environment and cultural atmosphere. The delegation toured specialized laboratories and student club studios at SZTU’s College of Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing, College of New Materials and New Energies, College of Urban Transportation and Logistics, and Future Technology School. They also visited SZTU Student Innovation Center and innovative enterprises like BYD and Han’s Laser to learn about Shenzhen’s technological innovation achievements. Additionally, the delegation engaged with students at SZTU Affiliated High School and explored cultural landmarks including the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum, Ping An Finance Center, Splendid China Folk Village, and Lotus Hill Park.

These activities fostered deeper mutual understanding of each other’s society and culture between Chinese and American youth, promoting their heartfelt friendships and mutual learning.
