SZTU will build new generation of Rail Transit Industrial Park with Shandong Zibo

A delegation from the city of Zibo, Shandong Province and representatives from Essentok Industrial Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Essentok) visited Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and had in-depth discussions about industry-university-research collaboration and joint construction of a Rail Transit Industrial Park on June 8. The meeting was joined by Wang Lei, director of Zibo Zhangdian District Science and Technology Bureau, Wang Xiaoying, deputy director of Bureau of Industry and Information Technology of Zibo, Essentok’s Chairman Wang Chuan, General Manager Tan Dong, and CEO Hu Feihu, together with Prof. Xu Gang, vice president of SZTU.

The guests first visited the Public Teaching Building, deeply impressed by the technology applied in the smart classrooms and then received a briefing around the 3D campus construction planning sand table.

Prof. Xu Gang extended a warm welcome to all guests at the meeting. He introduced in detail the school’s preparatory process, school positioning, specialty setup, and achievements in talent training. He said SZTU spares no efforts to expand the high-quality teaching staff, draw on the advanced concepts and running models of world-class universities of applied sciences, and closely meet the needs of the industry. Thus, SZTU is capable of nurturing high-end applied talents with ideas, skills and responsibilities.

Prof. Cheng Tao, deputy dean of College of Urban Transportation and Logistics introduced the development of the college and the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Urban Rail Transit, which can play the role of meeting the industrial needs.

Prof. Feng Ping from College of Urban Transportation and Logistics made a presentation on SZTU’s self-developed rail transit maintenance and inspection robotic project, which has won the 2019 Microsoft “Innovation Cup” national championship.

Wang Lei, director of Zibo Zhangdian District Science and Technology Bureau, introduced the development of related industries in Zibo and spoke highly of the school positioning, training model, and the campus environment of SZTU. He looks forward to a successful industrial park as the outcome of the intense collaboration among enterprises, universities and research institutes.

Essentok’s Chairman Wang Chuan said that the company, as a close partner of SZTU, wishes to further promote university-enterprise cooperation in the process of co-building an industrial park and cultivate highly sought-after talents needed by the industry and enterprises.

It has reached consensus at the meeting that it is necessary to vigorously develop and strengthen the industry-university-research collaboration. As part of the visit, the guests visited the laboratory at SZTU’s training base located in Maanling and watched the demonstration of the track inspection vehicle.

SZTU is strongly encouraged to further cooperate with enterprises and primary-level governments. This meeting has laid a good foundation for deeper industry-university-research cooperation and broader employment channels for SZTU students in the future.
