Edited by:Release Time:2020/06/30

As one of the main authors, Chen Jinchao, a sophomore of Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing recently published a research paper titled “Development of a Soft Pneumatic Actuator System Based on Flexible Force Sensor for Lower Limb Compression Therapy” in the IEEE Sensors Journal, a peer-reviewed journal devoted to sensors and sensing phenomena. This research paper was guided by Gong Zidan, assistant professor of Sino-German College of Intelligent Manufacturing in SZTU.

Although the flexible force sensors to monitor bio-mechanical force on human skin surface have been widely studied, the work mechanism of pneumatic compression therapy based on flexible force sensor using soft pneumatic actuators (SPA) remains unclear. This study aimed to design a new sensor-based SPA system to adjust the proactive bio-mechanical force delivery in pneumatic compression therapy on the lower limb and elucidate the working mechanism.
