Joint lecture on Industrial Applications of Digital Technologies successfully held online

A virtual workshop on Industrial Applications of Digital Technologies was successfully held on March 15. This workshop was jointly organised by Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and the Technical University of Munich Asia (TUM Asia). It was conducted by the lecturers from SZTU and the guest speakers from TUM Asia. Four related topics were covered in the workshop: Digital Simulation for Immersive Automation Training, Inspection 4.0 for NDT and SHM, Flexible and Soft biosensors in Wearable Devices, and 3D Printing of Injection Mold with Conformal Cooling Channels. About 150 teachers and students from both universities participated in this online workshop.

This workshop was co-hosted by the Center for Smart Sensing System of Julong College of SZTU and the International Cooperation and Student Affairs Office. The workshop’s chairmen were Prof. Chi Chiu Chan, deputy dean of Julong College and director of Center for Smart Sensing System, and Dr. Jesmond Hong, manager of the Business Development Department of TUM Asia. It was also witnessed by Ms. Zeng Siyu, director of International Cooperation and Student Affairs Office of SZTU, and Dr. Markus Wäechter, general manager of TUM Asia. Dr. Markus Wäechter and Prof. Chi Chiu Chan delivered opening speeches on behalf of the two universities.


In his speech, Dr. Markus Wäechter said he was gratified that the cooperation between the two universities has never stagnated during the pandemic. He also expressed his gratitude to the speakers of this workshop for making a great effort.

Prof. Chi Chiu Chan highlighted the importance of digital technology in the industrial field. He hoped that the two universities could jointly organise more online lectures to allow our students to have the opportunity to take online classes hosted by a different university.

This workshop aims to promote academic exchange activities in universities during the pandemic, expand the cooperation model between international partners, and popularize knowledge about the industrial applications of digital technologies. The successful holding of this event has laid the foundation for the two institutions to carry out more online courses in the future.
