SZTU achieves remarkable success at Challenge Cup

The final round of the 18th Challenge Cup Guangdong Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition took place from May 17 to 19 at Zhaoqing University. Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) achieved remarkable results, with all 12 entries recommended by the university winning awards, including two grand prizes, three first prizes, a second prize, and six third prizes. Notably, SZTU secured a grand prize for a natural science academic paper for the first time, marking a new breakthrough for the university in the competition. It also won two third prizes in the Zhaoqing “High-quality Development Project for Counties, Towns and Villages” Special Track.

The Challenge Cup is a nationwide competition that serves as a guiding, exemplary, and widely participated event. This year’s competition attracted 161 universities across the province and more than 36,000 entries, engaging over 200,000 students in scientific and technological innovation practices. The number of participants and entries reached record highs, further elevating the event’s impact.

SZTU launched its internal competition for the 2025 Challenge Cup in November last year, which saw 214 entries, a 91% increase from the previous year. The event engaged 1,667 participants. SZTU Youth League Committee organized and supported the competition, collaborating with the College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering and the School of Foreign Languages to hold two specialized information sessions. Additionally, SZTU conducted a series of preparatory activities, including departmental preliminary rounds, material reviews, group evaluations, open defenses, offline training camps, online counseling, one-on-one coaching, mock roadshows, and cross-questioning practice, providing comprehensive support to participating teams.
