On June 10th, a meeting dedicated to the argumentation on the Development Plan for Shenzhen Technology University (2015-2025) (hereinafter referred to as the Plan) was held at SZTU’s launching campus. 12 well-known experts from China and abroad were present and after discussions came to the conclusion that the Plan was feasible with explicit goals, rational planning, adequate measures and clear thinking and was closely connected with the spirit of strategies like the innovation-driven development strategy, Made in China 2025, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction plan. Suggestions for improvement regarding the Plan have also been raised concerning SZTU’s orientation, discipline establishment, cultivation system, university-enterprise cooperation and teaching staff recruitment.

Professor Ruan Shuangchen, President of SZTU, welcomed the visiting experts and gave a comprehensive introduction on the Plan. In his concluding remarks, he expressed appreciation for the experts’ effort and said the university would commit itself to the Plan’s improvement according to the experts’ suggestions.

The visiting experts are Mr. Yao Jianquan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Tianjin University, Mr. Wei Bingbo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and former Vice President of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Ms. Xie Yi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of University of Science and Technology of China, Mr. Wei Zhonglin, former Deputy Director-general of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Mr. Zhang Xiangwei, former President of Guangdong University of Technology, Mr. Xie Weixin, former President of Shenzhen University, Mr. Wang Hui, former Vice President of Shenzhen University, Mr. Fan Yanbin, Deputy Secretary of Party Affairs Committee of Foshan University, Mr. Li Xuejin, Associate Vice President of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Mr. Chen Ming, Associate Dean of the Sino-German Institute of Applied Sciences of Tongji University, Mr. Holger Haldenwang, Distinguished Professor of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and former Vice President of Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (OTH Regensburg), and Mr. Franz Raps, Distinguished Professor of SZTU and former Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
