SZTU founding ceremony successfully held

The founding ceremony of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) was successfully held on November 27, 2019, eleven months before which the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China officially wrote to the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, approving the establishment of SZTU. Hosted by Wang Lixin, deputy mayor of Shenzhen, SZTU founding ceremony brought together more than 2,600 witnesses, including several distinguished guests.

Wang Weizhong emphasized an important fact that Shenzhen would always give priority to education development, including strong support for the development of new universities like SZTU. He hoped that SZTU could learn from the essence of craftsmanship and cultivate talents with applied sciences and technology. He is confident that SZTU will be a young yet promising university contributing to the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and a demonstration pilot zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen.

Lou Xuqing announced a document that recognized the formal establishment of SZTU. The document revealed the position and mission of this young university. It called for greater efforts and support from Guangdong Provincial government and Shenzhen government to improve the speed and quality of SZTU construction. In the long term, SZTU will do a better job at providing quality education for students and contributing to the local economic and social development.

President of SZTU Ruan Shuangchen claimed the 1,400 days of SZTU’s rapid development as a miracle in Shenzhen. He pointed out that over the past three more years, with huge support from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Guangdong Provincial government and Shenzhen government, SZTU has made remarkable achievements on campus construction, talent introduction, talent cultivation and system management.

Tan Chang, freshman from College of Creative Design, expressed her gratitude to SZTU for the mass opportunities for academic exchanges and cross-cultural communication. More importantly, she mentioned the humane sentiments embedded in SZTU construction and management. In the next three years, she looked forward to making a difference in her life and growing up with SZTU.
