The Industrialization Center of Technological Achievements of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) (hereinafter referred to as the Center) and Research and Design Center of College of New Materials and New Energies were officially unveiled in Shenzhen Biomedicine Innovations Industrial Park on July 11. Two affiliated centers—Advanced Autostereoscopic Display and Chip Design Center and Excimer Laser and Functional Semiconductor Devices Research Center—were also unveiled. The unveiling ceremony was witnessed by Li Yong, district mayor of Pingshan, Chen Huaping, deputy district mayor, Huang Ming, director-general of Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau of Pingshan District, Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, Prof. Xu Gang, vice president of SZTU and heads of related departments.

At the unveiling ceremony, Prof. Ruan Shuangchen expressed gratitude to the Pingshan District Government for their strong support over the years. He said that SZTU is benchmarking Germany’s first-class universities of applied sciences and is committed to cultivating high-quality technical talents. University-enterprise cooperation and industry-academia integration are therefore important features of SZTU. Based on technological innovation, oriented to industry applications, and serving the local development, the Center carries out key technology research and development in the fields of new materials and new energy, biomedicine, and advanced manufacturing. It will help SZTU commercialize and industrialize technological achievements, thus contributing to the industrial development of Pingshan District and Shenzhen.

District Mayor Li Yong congratulated the unveiling of the Center. He noted that it is of great significance and far-reaching impact for SZTU to locate in Pingshan. Since its foundation, SZTU has demonstrated “Shenzhen Speed” and has achieved remarkable results in personnel training, coordination of industry, academia and research, and integration of industry and education. He hoped that the Center could attract more scientific and technological talents for Pingshan District and make unique contributions to the industrialization of technological achievements and the development of Pingshan as a national high-tech zone. He also said that the Pingshan District Government will, as always, fully support the construction and development of SZTU to become a highland for technological innovation talents.

The Center is in charge of the commercialization of scientific research achievements, operation of patents, science and technology parks, incubators, etc. At present, the Center boasts 14 research institutes, R&D centers and studios, covering about 2,700 square meters.
Focusing on the scientific and technological needs of Shenzhen’s key development areas such as new energy and new materials, biomedicine, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and creative design, the Center breaks through key core technologies and accelerates the transformation and application of innovative achievements.
The Center will continue to steadily support the scientific research personnel to carry out follow-up scientific research and make the achievements industrialized. It will also strive to explore a diversified investment mechanism to help the industrialization of achievements.

Advanced Autostereoscopic Display and Chip Design Center mainly focuses on the development and production of autostereoscopic TV sets, research on 2D/3D video conversion algorithms, integrated design of functional chips and autostereoscopic systems.

The team is in the lead of autostereoscopic TV’s grating design, lamination process, software processing and system design. In order to achieve real-time conversion, it will further improve the conversion algorithm from 2D to 3D.

Excimer laser is currently the laser device with the largest output power in the ultraviolet band, which is widely used in industry, medical treatment, scientific research and other fields. The team has long experience and massive technical accumulation of excimer laser research and development. It is the first in China to launch excimer laser products with independent intellectual property rights.
