Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) and its German partner Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) held the collaborative workshop on advanced teaching methods in June. It was joined by three professors from H-BRS and 18 young teachers from SZTU. H-BRS also made a related report on the workshop.

The opening ceremony of the workshop was witnessed by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, and Prof. Jürgen Bode, vice president of H-BRS. The two sides signed a cooperation agreement in 2020 and many exchange activities have been held successfully as Prof. Ruan expected. More in-depth cooperation will be carried out between SZTU and H-BRS in the future. Prof. Jürgen Bode has visited SZTU twice and was impressed by its development. This workshop, he believed, would be a good opportunity for learning and exchanging ideas since three professors from H-BRS are experienced in teaching and have received many teaching awards.

During the workshop, 18 SZTU teachers were divided into three groups and attended separate online sessions. Three German professors shared their teaching experience, teaching methods, teaching mode in universities of applied sciences, etc. SZTU teachers also shared the problems they have met in classes and their solutions. Discussion topics covered similarities and differences between comprehensive universities and universities of applied sciences and cultural differences in teaching between two countries.

Each participant was issued with a certificate of participation signed by Prof. Ruan Shuangchen and Prof. Marco Winsker, vice president for teaching at H-BRS.
