Recently, Prof. Xu Gang, vice president of Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU), and Du Yang, director of the Government & Enterprise Business Department of Huawei, signed a university-enterprise cooperation agreement between the two parties on building College of Future Technology.

The areas of this cooperation mainly include curriculum resources construction, establishing information and communications technology (ICT)-related specialty group, setting up “three centers” and “three bases”, faculty team construction, student employment, talent certification and social services.

Prof. Xu Gang said that the talent cultivation objective of SZTU is well fit to Huawei’s need and goal for talent training. In the face of the shortage of revolutionary technical talents, it is the right time for SZTU and Huawei to jointly build the College of Future Technology to tackle with future technical challenges. Furthermore, this is a milestone that marks the start of a new stage of cooperation between the two sides. Xu also stated that the College of Future Technology will closely meet the needs of industrial research and development, assist enterprises to solve core technical problems, and promote discipline construction and technological development, so as to achieve a win-win result for both the university and enterprises. It will strive to make contributions to local development and to cultivate leading research and technical talents that keep up with the times and meet the national needs.

Du Yang reviewed the cooperation between Huawei and SZTU since 2019 and agreed that both sides attach great importance and have compatible ideas on the cultivation of future talents. Through the cooperation on building the college, the two parties will focus on the fields of “Artificial Intelligence + Enterprise Intelligence”, “HarmonyOS + Industrial Internet” and “5G+Intelligent Manufacturing”, and jointly explore the training of future technical talents that is geared to the regional economic development, industrial structure upgrading and corporate needs.
