On June 12, Hu Jingxuan, deputy dean of College of Design and Innovation, Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU), and her students’ art exhibition opening ceremony as well as the Overseas Artists Academic Forum, organized by Shenzhen Art Museum and SZTU, and co-organized by Shenzhen Young Artists Association and Shenzhen Pingshan Artists Association, were successfully held at Shenzhen Art Museum. The curator was Feng Xiaorui, deputy director of Luohu Art Museum. Ding Yanguo, chairman of Pinshan Artists Association, and Shen Haoran, director of Zhuhai Powerlong Art Center, served as the academic directors. Ruan Shuangchen, president of SZTU, Wang Ziran, deputy director of Shenzhen Art Museum, and many other guests attended the opening ceremony and forum. More than 30 experts and scholars in the realm of art, including Zhang Shuang, fourth-level researcher of Shenzhen Culture, Radio and Sports Administration Bureau, and Hao Qiang, resident vice chairman and secretary general of Shenzhen Artists Association, delivered speeches and conducted academic exchanges.

The exhibition featured more than 30 paintings and installations created by Hu Jingxuan and her students in the past four years. During the guided gallery tour, Hu Jingxuan led the audiences to feel the tranquility of the objects and to explore the profound meanings and values behind the works of art.

At the beginning of the Overseas Artists Academic Forum, Hu Jingxuan and her students got high appraisal from Ding Yanguo. He pointed out that Hu Jingxuan managed to carry forward Chinese culture through her artistic expressions and works with rich cultural connotations and aesthetic interests. Wang Ziran commented that overseas artists is a very important group, which presented independent ideas and unique self-expressions. Feng Xiaorui pointed out that the new generation of young overseas artists had grown up under the background of globalization. The extraordinary experiences of multinational education, life and work are important sources of inspiration in their creation.

The exhibition and the academic forum have outlined the overall appearance of the new generation of overseas artists in Shenzhen. They comprehensively showcased the living condition, artistic concepts and works of this unique group, and built an effective platform for overseas returnees and the domestic art community.
