SZTU students win top national prizes in CUMCM 2022

Recently, the results of the 2022 Contemporary Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) were announced. The student teams from Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU) won a total of 45 prizes, among whom two teams from College of Big Data and Internet claimed the first prize in the national contest (the award-winning rate was 0.6%), which was the first time that SZTU won the highest award in CUMCM. In addition, the student teams from SZTU also won two second prizes in the national contest (the award-winning rate was 2.3%), as well as six first prizes, 10 second prizes and 25 third prizes in the Guangdong provincial competition of CUMCM.

10 instructors from College of Big Data and Internet of SZTU had been leading students to form teams and carry out pre-competition training and simulation since this summer vacation. With joint efforts of the teachers and students, the teams overcame various difficulties and finally achieved excellent results.

Tips:

Sponsored by the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, CUMCM was launched in 1992 and held annually. It is one of the first 19 competitions listed in the national rankings of college student academic competitions in China and has gradually become the largest academic competition in basic disciplines for universities and colleges across China and even one of the largest mathematical modeling contests in the world. A total of 54,257 teams with over 160,000 students from 1,606 universities and colleges in China, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and other countries signed up for the contest this year.
